Chestnuts Roast on an open fire
Ok we learned that if you roast nuts on an open fire while still in their shell they blow up! is that just my kids or do others try things like this too?
I had just gathered a lot of pecans, and brought them in and layed them out in front of the fire to dry out a bit. (Rain rain go away come again another day)
When what do you think my kids would do they tried roasting them, at first they cracked them from the shell and then toasted them. Then Ben wanted to see how one would burn. and yes it blew up.(They thought I didn't know) I figured they learned their lesson. Anyway, about 30 min later, bigger boom. I say Ben what the heck? He said, Well I was roasting it and it fell into the fire and I didn't think it would do anything and then it blew up. I said ya only this one was bigger than the last one. He said, I didn't mean to drop it this time......
